Tatiana Timonina (born 1992) is a flutist, performer, and composer based in Basel, Switzerland. She is active in the fields of contemporary and experimental music, working across various formats, including live performance, electro-acoustic composition, and free improvisation.

Tatiana started playing the flute at the age of 8 in Saint Petersburg, Russia, where she took lessons at the SSMSH of the St. Petersburg State Conservatory. From 2011 to 2018, she studied at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne and the Hochschule für Musik in Basel, earning her Bachelor’s and two Master’s degrees in classical and contemporary music. In 2022-23, she continued her education in the electronic studio at the Hochschule für Musik in Basel (ESB) with Volker Böhm, receiving a Diploma of Advanced Studies in audio design.

Tatiana is a member of the ensembles Lemniscate and TaG, based in Basel and Winterthur, respectively. She is also a co-founder of the Stop, Drop, and Roll Trio, alongside percussionist Jeanne Larrouturou and guitarist Christopher Moy with whom they perform repertoire contemporary music and their own works. Since 2023, she has been playing electronics in a duet with guitarist Killian Perret-Gentil, focusing on free improvisation and their original compositions.

Tatiana’s work includes numerous interdisciplinary projects in collaboration with composers, musicians, actors, performers, and sound artists from diverse backgrounds. She has performed internationally at festivals and venues such as Mostra Sonora (Spain); Zeiträume, Archipel, and Usine Sonore (Switzerland); reMusik (St. Petersburg, Russia); Delian Academy for New Music (Mykonos, Greece); Münchener Biennale - Festival für neues Musiktheater (Munich, Germany); International Summer Courses for New Music (Darmstadt, Germany); Bilgi Music Festival (Istanbul, Turkey); Gasteig (Munich, Germany); Ernst Deutsch Theater (Hamburg, Germany); Tchaikovsky Concert Hall (Moscow, Russia); ORF RadioKulturhaus (Vienna, Austria); and Theater Basel.

She has played with various ensembles and orchestras, including Ensemble Recherche, Ensemble Aventure, Container, Sinfonieorchester Basel, and MusicAeterna. Her electroacoustic compositions have been performed in Switzerland and Austria, and her recent collaborative sound installation "Intolleranza" was presented at Theater Basel.

In 2023, Tatiana released her first experimental EP, “Синяя ткань моих снов” ("Blue Fabric of My Dreams"), in collaboration with sound artist Lino Schilling under the artistic name Mezhdu.
